To Shimla by Nalagarh-Ramshehar-Kunihar (Pics of Beautiful Scenery on the Way and my Experience)

Shimla, Nalagarh, Ramshehar, Kunihar, Himachal, Car Drive,

I always love to travel by the roads less travelled because by doing so I get a chance to see things which are still hidden from the most of people. On my single day journey to Shimla from Ropar (Punjab) for some work, I decided to travel on the State Highway 16 by following the route Nalagarh-Ramshehar-Kunihar instead of going through the National Highway (NH) 5. Not only this route was shorter by 40 KMs, but I was also expecting some adventure on the way.

Clouds, Way, Shimla,

This journey become a quite exciting and thrilling because I was travelling on this route in the month of July on a rainy day. Though, I was aware that this is a single road and I may face landslides if rain continued. Still, I was ready for the adventure and I started my journey early in the morning on Tata Indigo eCS. Till nalagarh, I faced heavy rain but rain slowed down as I crossed Nalagarh. The weather was very fine and it was drizzling throughout the journey.

Beautiful, Scenery, Way,
Beautiful Scenery on the Way

I saw many new places on the way and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Due to rain and clouds, everything started looking very beautiful. At some places road condition was not fine and there were mild landslides but still whole journey was good. Though, I want to advice that travelling on this route in the month of July or in rainy season is risky and may cause delay due to landslides. But, It is also true that you need to take some risks when you want to see something extraordinary.

Pine Tree, Clouds,

On the one side, Rainy season increases the risks for driving and on the other side, it makes everything look very beautiful. I reached Shimla by 11 AM and greated by the clouds. Whole of the Shimla was in the cover of clouds and visibility was quite low still very enjoyable. I finished my work in Shimla by 5 PM. However, while for the return journey, I didn't take SH16 and decided to opt NH5 instead because of night driving is risky on the narrow SH16 as compared to NH16 which is a wider road.
To Shimla by Nalagarh-Ramshehar-Kunihar

I will rate journey as one of my best day journeys and I will love to repeat it again. Driving is a fun and such unplanned routes can be very thrilling.

  3. I travelled to Ramshahr from Chandigarh today. The Ghanauli Nalagrh road is still a joke, so we travelled till Bharatgarh ( 8 kms ahead on the highway from Ghanauli) and took the Bharatgarh Nalagarh road. This is a peach of a 12 km road, and it took us just 15 mins to reach Nalagarh.
Surprisingly, even the Nalagarh Ramshahr road is pretty decent now. Ramshahr town is 18 kms and Fort is a further 4 kms ahead. Despite facing dense fog , esp on return around 5 pm, we had the most exhilirating experience learning about the forts history. The views from the top of the fort down into the valley were a sight to behold !

Beautiful Mahakaleshwar Pandoi Devta ji Temple at Pandoa (Shimla)

You are aware of my road trip on the stretch Nalagrah-Ramshehr-Arki-Basantpur-Luhri -ANNI. When from Basantpur-Tatapani Road, we take a right turn on MDR 22 towards Luhri and Rampur then we follow the Satluj river continuously and get a chance to see communities living near Satluj river and in this valley. We also get a chance to see their culture and beliefs. Today, I am going to talk about the Pandoi Devta temple situated just a few meters away from this road at Pandoa village. Himachal Pradesh can be known as a place of thousands of deities; therefore, we say it the land of Gods. This temple is not visible from the road and you need to take an unpaved road that is 300 meters long to reach this temple. Pandoi Devta temple is a set of one main temple and two Kothis.  At this place, we can find the same style of Shivlinga as we find at the Ujjain; therefore, this place is also known as Mahakaleshwar Pandoi Devta ji Shahib. It is believed that this Shivlinga was created by Pandavas dur

My Visit to Baudi Sahib Temple and Sarovar (Behrari, Kathgarh, Punjab)

Main Temple  In India, we can find many hidden places with lots of tourism potential but due to no promotion may places remain hidden from eyes of most of the people. One of such beautiful and peaceful place is Baudi Sahib which is famous in the local area for its Baudi (Sarovar). This Sarovar is believed to be very holy and on the festival or auspicious days, many people came here to take dip its waters. The main thing which stops you from reaching this place is the bad road which even becomes worse in the rainy season. To reach Baudi Sahib, you first need to reach Kathgrah, a small town near Ropar. After reaching Kathgrah, you can find two roads to reach Baudi Sahib. Baudi Sahib is around 8 KM away from the main Phagwara-Mohali highway. Here we can find dera of Baba Sarwan Das and present Mahant of the dera takes care of this place. With the efforts of the current Mahant, a big complex and temple have been constructed at this place. All devotees or visitors who visit thi

My Journey to Masroor Rock Cut Temples (Kangra, Himachal Pradesh) with Pictures and Review

In this post, I am going to share the experience of my recent visit to famous Rock Cut Temples in Masroor Village of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh. This village is about 38 KM away from Kangra Town and here we can see 15 rock-cut temples in Indo-Aryan style. I came to know about this place through the pictures of a friend on Facebook. This place looked very attractive in pictures so I decided to visit this place. I took the route through Dehra town situated at the bank of Beas river. The disadvantage of taking this route is poor road conditions. It is around 35 KM from Dehra. After a journey of one hour from Dehra, I reached the Masroor Rock Cut Temple site. When you reach the temple site, then you first see the backside of the temples.                                                          Masroor Rock Cut Temples The first view of Temples is very refreshing and I started exploring this place. In front of the Masroor Rock cut temples, we can see a small pond
