To Shimla by Nalagarh-Ramshehar-Kunihar (Pics of Beautiful Scenery on the Way and my Experience)

I always love to travel by the roads less travelled because by doing so I get a chance to see things which are still hidden from the most of people. On my single day journey to Shimla from Ropar (Punjab) for some work, I decided to travel on the State Highway 16 by following the route Nalagarh-Ramshehar-Kunihar instead of going through the National Highway (NH) 5. Not only this route was shorter by 40 KMs, but I was also expecting some adventure on the way. This journey become a quite exciting and thrilling because I was travelling on this route in the month of July on a rainy day. Though, I was aware that this is a single road and I may face landslides if rain continued. Still, I was ready for the adventure and I started my journey early in the morning on Tata Indigo eCS. Till nalagarh, I faced heavy rain but rain slowed down as I crossed Nalagarh. The weather was very fine and it was drizzling throughout the journey. Beautiful Scenery on the Way I saw many new places o...

17th century Maa Tarna (Shyamakali) Temple, Mandi (Himachal)

I have visited many ancient and beautiful temples of the Himachal  and found them all unique in their beauty and construction. With changing landscape, we can see changes in the designs of temples. From the ancient wood temple of Shakti Devi in Chamba to Masroor Rock temple in Kangra , all temples in Himachal offer something unique and special. Today, I will talk about the Tarna Mata temple situated in the Mandi city of Himachal Pradesh that is also known as Choti Kashi because of 80 plus temples. The actual name of the temple is Shyamakali Temple and it was built by king Shyam Sen in the 17th century on the hill called Tarna; therefore, this temple has got its name of Tarna Mata from the name of the hill on which it was built.  This temple is also a sign of victory of the Mandi kingdom because Raja Shyam Sen built this temple after winning a battle against the rival king of  Suket Jeet Sen. Raja Shyam Sen of Mandi wished from Maa Kali to grant him a win over the Raja J...

However, this place holds much more significance for the Buddhist community because Mahatma Buddha gave his first sermon in Sarnath. After getting enlightenment in Bodh Gaya Mahatma Buddha reached Sarnath to find his five disciplines and after finding them, he gave his first sermon know as Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta. Inside Shiva Temple I love to travel and therefore, often gets a chance to visit many places which I have not seen before. India is a country of Temples and we can find many temples around us. While some of the temples are very popular and everyone knows about them. However, still, there are many other temples which are not very popular but have good popularity in the local region. The Temple Baba Dhune Waleji Maharaj at Rampur Sani, Nangal is one such temple. This temple is situated between two canals originating from the Nangal Dam and it is the place where the main Maharaj of the temple used to meditate and worship. Today, at this place, we can find a big temple complex with many small temples, Goshala and marriage hall. This temple is situated away from the main road, and to reach this temple you need to cross the main Bhakra Canal and take the small road adjacent to the Bhakra canal. Many people who visit this temple also take bath in the adjoining canal where an iron net ...
